The First Sunday after Epiphany

January 12 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

On Sunday, January 12, Community United Church returns to two services at 9:00 & 11:00 AM. A more free-flowing service is offered at 9:00, while our regular liturgy with weekly communion and children’s church is offered at 11:00.

This week we’ll hear from the Gospel of Matthew, in which Mary and Joseph flee with Jesus to Egypt as refugees. They do so in order to escape the injustices of their own king and kingdom. We’ll consider what it means that the same Jesus who teaches that he identifies with “the least among us,” was once a refugee himself—whose life depended upon the hospitality of another nation.
