Sunday, March 17, is the second Sunday in Lent. Our Gospel reading features a scene in which Jesus is warned about a threat on his life, by the ruler Herod. Christ’s response is an interesting one. He not only casts some shade at Herod, but he also embodies what it looks like to embrace the perilous consequences of choosing a bold mission. What we find in this story is not only a narrative about the one we call savior, but also a model for our own life of faith. Namely, the same Christ who desires abundant life for us all is the same Christ who calls us to a life of meaningful consequence. Sometimes that means enduring the difficulties of living our mission well. We’ll explore these ideas on Sunday, so please join us! 9:00 or 11:00 AM! If you are unable to make it, take a listen to the Gospel reading as well as a reflection on the text by Pastor Rich.
