11:00 AM Worship – Sermon Series: “Following in the Footsteps of Peter,” Part 3: Peter’s Inclusive Vision
July 25 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
This summer, the pastoral staff at Community United Church is offering a variety of sermon series to explore theological ideas and central characters of the Christian faith.
From July 11-25, we’ll explore a three part sermon series on the Apostle Peter. Throughout the pages of scripture and church history, Peter has held a special place in the story of Christianity–and yet, Peter’s story is a bit complicated. Jesus calls him the rock, upon which the church will be built; and yet Peter will deny Jesus three times. Peter is named a primary leader of the early church, and yet he and Paul had disagreements about how best to live out the faith. Peter was empowered by the Holy Spirit, and yet it was a struggle for him to accept the new ways of living in spiritual liberty and grace.
Come explore all of these interesting aspects of Peter’s life with us, which we believe will help us to better understand that the life of faith isn’t about being perfect, it’s about growing in love and wisdom.
