“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. “ — Romans 15:13 NRSV
Hope and joy are inseparable companions. Even in seasons of uncertainty or struggle, hope allows us to hold on to joy because it keeps us looking forward with trust. Hope does not deny our challenges; it declares that God’s promises are stronger than despair. Joy rooted in hope reminds us that no situation is beyond redemption and no night is too dark for morning light to break through.
When we choose hope, we also choose joy. We begin to see life not just as it is, but as it can be through God’s renewing work. Hope teaches us to look past our present struggles and toward God’s unfolding future. That perspective allows joy to take root even when circumstances are hard, because our hearts remain anchored in the assurance of God’s love.
Joy in hope is resilient. It sustains us when we are weary and strengthens us when we are afraid. To live with hope is to believe that God is not finished with our story—and that truth alone brings joy. As long as hope remains alive within us, joy can never be extinguished.
