Being Present

Douglas Hearn | Monday Mar 3rd, 2025

In the vast expanse of history, we have been given the profound privilege of existing in this time. Though the world may seem turbulent, filled with uncertainty and challenge, we are not here by accident. Each of us has been placed in this moment with a purpose—to witness, to learn, and most importantly, to be present for one another. In a time when division and isolation can easily take root, our greatest calling is to remain available, to listen deeply, and to remind each other that we do not walk this journey alone.

Being present for one another is more than an act of kindness; it is a sacred responsibility. When we truly see and hear one another, we reflect the divine love that sustains us. In Galatians 6:2, we are reminded, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” This is the essence of our existence—not to walk through life untouched by the struggles of others, but to bear witness, to hold space, and to remind those around us that their lives matter. Our availability, even in the smallest moments, can be the very presence of God’s love in someone else’s life.

This time we have been given is fleeting, and yet it holds infinite opportunities for connection, healing, and grace. When we recognize the privilege of our existence, we begin to see each day as an invitation to be fully present—not just for ourselves but for those around us. Whether through a quiet conversation, a shared silence, or a simple act of love, we embody the truth that none of us are meant to walk this road alone. In being available for one another, we affirm that, despite the uncertainties of this world, we are held in something greater—love that transcends time and meets us exactly where we are.
