Love Guides the Way

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)

Someone once asked me, “Do you really believe everything written in the Bible?” At first, I felt challenged. But I realized that the heart of faith isn’t about taking every word literally—it’s about living a life shaped by love, mercy, humility, and justice. Jesus’ example shows us that faith is active: caring for others, forgiving freely, and standing up for what’s right. Thomas Merton reminds us that the spiritual life is about “learning to see everything in God,” opening our hearts to the deeper truths beneath the words.

When we read the Bible through this lens, faith becomes alive, not a rigid set of rules. It calls us to build communities of healing, hope, and compassion. Christianity at its best transforms us and the world around us. By embracing mercy over literalism, justice over judgment, and love over compliance, we allow our faith to do what it was meant to do: shape hearts, guide actions, and bring light into a hurting world.
