Scripture: “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.” — Psalm 37:7
There are seasons when waiting feels heavier than anything else—when the silence stretches and we wonder if God is hearing us at all. But I’m learning that stillness isn’t doing nothing. It’s a kind of active trust. Waiting with open hands means loosening my grip on how I think things should happen and allowing God to move in God’s way.
When I give myself permission to be still, I start to notice the quiet work happening beneath the surface. God uses these slower moments to soften what’s rigid in me, to stretch my patience a little, and to remind me that surrender isn’t giving up—it’s opening up. Sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is stop pushing and make room for grace.
And when prayers seem unanswered, I try to remember that God may be preparing the ground long before anything begins to bloom. Anticipation isn’t wasted time—it’s part of the holy work. Something is being shaped in us even when we can’t see a single sign of movement.
Prayer:
Loving God, help us lean into the wisdom found in stillness. Open our hands, open our hearts, and teach us to trust Your timing—even when the waiting feels long. Amen.
