Scripture: “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” — Hebrews 11:1
Anticipation, at least the way I’ve come to understand it, feels a lot like the heart leaning forward. It’s that steady confidence that tomorrow can hold something good even if today has its share of questions. When our hearts lean forward, they do it not out of fear of losing something but out of hope that something meaningful is still waiting to unfold.
I often think about the people who walked this road of faith long before us. They didn’t have the whole picture. They saw only the smallest pieces of what God was doing, yet they trusted that the story was still moving toward something whole and life-giving. That’s what anticipation really is. It’s the quiet way we say, “God isn’t finished yet,” even from the low places. It’s lifting our eyes just enough to remember that the horizon still holds light.
Prayer:
God of promise, help us keep our hearts leaning forward. Let our hope carry weight in the moments when fear tries to speak louder. Teach us to trust You with what we can’t yet see, knowing You continue to work in every corner of our lives. Amen.
